Figuarts Zero: New World Robin

While I know this figure has been reviewed non-stop over the internet, I couldn't help picking her up when she went on sale, and adding my own photos online.  She is the ever cool and mysterious Nico Robin all done up in a new design.

Right out of the box she is beautiful and classy.  Her arms are graceful and poised like she is about to attack.

The skirt has wonderful fold and creases as if it were hanging naturally.  Her base seems large for her but follows the typical figuarts zero base design.  I do like Robins new Jolly Roger. 

 I love the detail of the fringe and the high heels on Robin's feet.  They look delightful.

These back shots help show off her figure and the nice flowing hair.  And yes it does serve as a nice bum shot for those who like that as well. 

 I love the positions of her hands, and the blue paint job on her jacket. That's really what sold me on the figure.  I do have an issue with how flat the top of her head looks and how wide her sunglasses appear, but its not enough to ruin the figure for myself, others maybe.  And yes, a nice bust shot for those who like that as well.

She is pretty fetching from all sides, but still really looks best from the front.  All the elements of her clothing hands and flowing hair seem to come together the best up front.  Despite being slim she is a tall woman, and a really nice addition to any one piece collection.  I have her with Zoro but I think I would like to pick up Nami at some point and display them together, being the ladies of the Straw hats and all.

She also comes with a plastic stand that helps her stand without the usual base.  I normally don't care for this but at least this one is small enough not to be an eyesore and does help save space if you are worried about that as a collector.

Thus that is it for this one!  A Nice figure that I am very pleased with, here to hoping I can nab Nami to go along with her in the near future!

One Piece Bandai Candy Toy: Impel Down Collection

I've been meaning to put the tiny guys up for a while.  I didn't go out of my way for these, but they are pretty cute.  They came as free gifts with a few of my Figuarts Zero figures that I picked up lately.  But for such tiny figures (only an inch tall at best) they have some nice details.

I had three boxes in total after my purchases, and I was lucky to get three of the best characters out of the set: Zoro, Buggy, and Luffy!  It would be pretty cool to get Mr. 3 to go along with Buggy during the "we need to go up!" speech.  They come with tiny stands that have their names on them.  If you prefer to have them off the bases they will stand by themselves.  They do look really great for such small figures.

It is disappointing that the stripes on Zoro and Buggy are not continued on the backside.  This isn't too bad of an issue since I only view them from the front, but it's something to be aware of when you are looking to buy these guys.  All in all though, if you are one for minis like these, I say pick up your favorite characters.

Figuarts Zero: Zoro Battle Version

I was so happy at the announcement of this figure that I pre-ordered it right away.  I just never had the chance to break it out, but here it is! The first of the Battle Version's of Figuarts Zero: Battle Ver. Zoro:

Oh and some box shots.....I also broke down and picked up battle version Mihawk to go with Zoro, since I don't have the previous release and this one is so much more active anyway.  All in all the boxes are fine, they are different with the texture pattern and text.  I do like them better for the fact that they are smaller than the older boxes and have a larger viewing window.  pretty nice for people who see the boxes before buying the figures.

Zoro is fantastic.  I can't say enough about the details and shading on this figure.  Its a perfect representation of his Santoryu style.

His haramaki is wonderfully detailed and shaded as are his pants and shoes which are very important aspects to his attire.

His sword and his sheaths are wonderfully executed, and appear as they do in both the manga and the anime.

The arms and skin are well molded, especially his hands. I love the tiny details on the hilts/blades as well.

His alternate parts can give you the option of displaying him with his bandana on his arm and his face in full confidence mode.  They included an extra hilt to show the Wado Ichimonji sheathed safely away.

His base is pretty much like the others, with the new distinction of having BATTLE VER. written on the bottom of the tag line. The details on this figure are fantastic, I love the strain in his arms.

Basically he is a must have for any One Piece Zoro fan.  Luckily he is still available at most online stores.  So get your Zoro today!

Plex D.P.C.F. Three Musketeers Roronoa Zoro

No catchy title tonight, just a big figure.  Plex is muscling up next to the P.O.P line when it comes to the One Piece figures.  Both are wonderful, and both are expensive.  I came across someone selling second hand the figure of the one Zoro I really wanted when it was announced.  So here is Plex D.P.C.F. Three Musketeers Roronoa Zoro 1/7 scale (a little over 9 inches tall!):

Zoro has many figures (all looking good) but the Musketeer line has him in the leather jacket/badass pose I find myself loving more and more. I must have a thing for tough guys with good hearts. (Who else is waiting for that Persona 4 Kanji figure to release?) Ok, the light is harsh in this shot so here are details:

The face and hair sculpt are excellent.  It really looks like the Zoro we know from One Piece (artstyle and attitude.)  You can see scuffs on the rifle. I know that comes from the previous owner and the post office smashing the box he was shipped in.  Paint scuffs like this are easy to fix, so I'm not bothered.  I read in many reviews Zoro figures that come new from Plex have excellent paint, so it's not an issue.

Firearm details: Some slight paint misses, but also easy to fix.  The molding on the guns are wonderful. It's nice that the rifle has a scope and the pistol in hand is actually cocked.  The guns were shipped off figure, and fitting them into their respective slots was difficult, but rewarding.

These are shots of the clothing details: like the jackets, zippers, belts, pants and shoes. I love the work on all the metallic features; they stand out nicely against the black. Buttons are well covered, and the loop for the third pistol even unhooks to allow the gun to slide out.

Base shot (he slid into his pegs nicely). Oh and I should mention, the dust collects like crazy on this guy. You do need the base though, he does topple over without it.  It's basic but I do love the hexagon shape/lettering on it.

Final thoughts? A worthy buy.  Plex does an amazing job, and I hear the others they have completed are also top notch.  Sadly Zoro is the only one who interests me, so I probably won't be picking up the other musketeers in this set.  Perhaps a P.O.P will catch my eye in the future so I can compare, but not right now. I'm going to save my money for the next punk in black that catches my eye.
